Ittihad University employs a substantial IT Infrastructure to support the IT
Requirements of academic programs and administrative activities. This IT
Infrastructure is maintained and administered by the IT Center of the
University.
The IT Infrastructure of the University includes the Computer Laboratories,
the University LAN and PCs provided to academic and administrative staff to
perform their respective duties. Computers are located in all University
personnel's offices, labs, halls, classrooms, and college offices. Computer
labs are multipurpose and are open to all students. They are also utilized
for practical training and working on experiments and assignments.
A key element of this infrastructure is the interconnection between the
University's local IT Environment and the Internet. This interconnection
provides an effective and efficient means to perform research, access
up-to-date academic literature for instructional purposes and communicate
with academic and industrial community at large to support the overall
academic objectives of University.
Mission
The
IT Center of Ittihad University is dedicated to support the academic
and administrative IT Requirements of the University. The
IT Center aims
to provide and maintain a technological infrastructure that should allow
effective teaching and research, efficient communication and operations, and
optimize administration. By promoting the use of technology in all
activities of the University, the IT Center assists in preparing
confident professionals eager to assume challenging responsibilities during
their careers.
Objectives

Proactively evaluate the IT Requirements of the University in the
academic and administrative domains.

Devise policies and procedures to ensure an ethical use of IT Resources
at the University.

Devise policies and procedures to ensure the secure operation of the
installed IT Equipment.

Make available the IT resources for the requirement of the curricula in
co-operation with Program Directors and according to Course Timetable.

Set the estimated budget for IT at the University in co-ordination
with other units.

Identify commercially available equipment and systems that would fulfill
the future IT Requirements of the University.

Acquire, install, operate and maintain the required IT Resources.

Provide support to the University staff in operating the installed IT
Resources.

Monitor and evaluate the performance of the IT Resources on regular
basis.

Determine deficiencies in the existing IT Resources that will cause
hindrance in future operations.

Provide support for electronically organizing the institutional knowledge
of the University.

Provide training for the faculty, staff and students to stay current with
New Technology.
